Looking up  copy fitting on the internet after Rusty explained it to us in class I realized that most of the websites tell you how to do it using a computer instead of by hand. I did find a website that seemed to give good details about doing it by hand. It also talked about what to do if you have a certain space that needs to be filled with text. Basically it was just what Rusty said but without the visual parts. The website I found is http://printwiki.org/Copyfitting it is the free encyclopedia of print.

I think that the first few times that I have to do this it will take me a while and be difficult, but it looks like once you are used to doing it it won't take you very long and it will just become second nature. I am actually excited to learn all of the 'old school' ways because it lets us know how the design industry has changed over the years. I think it is good to know the old ways of doing things in case you computer crashes and you have to have something done the next day you can just do it by had. I also think that employers will also find it a good skill to know how to do even if you wont be using it much. It is also more fun and hands on then just using the computer all the time.
