I like this thumbnail because it is simple and easy to read. The first problem I see with it is that it has a bleed. To fix this I would bring in the black to make a box , but still leave the chili outside of the box. The second problem I see is that the first thing I read is the greek lettering and the title should be the first thing read. I would make the greek lettering much smaller and the chili cook off bigger. The graphic is nice and eye catching because it is 2/3's of the poster, and the contrast between the black and white is also helpful. I would have to say that this layout is a mix between silhouette, frame, and picture-window layouts.

I did think this was one of my better thumbnails. I agree that the title should be larger than the Greek lettering and probably be swapped with the title.I will create a boarder for the finished product if I decide on this one as the comp I use. I thought that conceptually however, either the other black and white chili poster or the one with a can of chili in the gun holster were stronger in terms of advertising the event.
